Opulence = 1. very wealthy or rich, 2.characterised by abundance or profusion; luxuriant.
The above definition pretty much sums it all up right? Think over indulgence, softness, draped velvet curtains and over the top accessories. An opulent scheme is not for the faint hearted – it’s a scheme of confidence and not for everybody. But, if it’s done subtly, the elements of an opulent scheme can really bring a room together. Warm, inviting and sumptuous is your goal.
Accessories: Gilt framed mirrors, ornate wing back chairs, ornate urns, decorative lighting with high detail, shapely vases and candelabras.
Fabrics: Voluptuous and decadent fabrics like silk, velvets and flocks. Deep and rich colours, over the top patterns and dramatic graphics. Heavily embellished trims and detailing on window treatments, cushions and throws.
Flooring: Plush and deep pile carpets and rugs. Furs are very popular in opulent schemes with animal rugs and print.
Furniture: Highly detailed and unique furniture pieces are a must for all opulent schemes – think 19th Century Parisienne. Piece should be ostentatious and a little tongue in cheek.

How beautiful. This just screams ‘WENDI!!!!’
Thanks to you I’ve learned that I’m not at all into vintage and antique looks. I prefer contemporary/modern and luxury. Comfort is key :)
