I’ve found in my travels that some people can be rather snobbish when it comes to IKEA.
Mass produced, cheap, badly made, unoriginal – are some of the “nicer” things I’ve heard said about the company.
What about me you ask? Well I love IKEA, there I said it. I know there are some interiors types who would rather chew their own hand off before stepping foot in a big blue and yellow showroom, but I’m not one of them. Why? Because I think it’s important that good design is accessible to anyone who wants it and available at all price points.
If you don’t have deep pockets and a bulging wallet should you resign yourself to a dreary, uncomfortable, uninspiring lifetime home? Like hell you should.
If you’re not familiar with what’s on offer at the moment – check out some of these new beauties from the new ‘IKEA Stockholm collection’ that have caught my eye.
one: green vase | two: yellow bedside table | three: glass door cabinet | four: floor lamp | five: three seater sofa | six: glass door cabinet | seven: two door cabinet | eight: sideboard | nine: walnut veneer coffee table – all from the Stockholm collection all available now.
ten: ESBJÖRN chair
So how do you feel about the Swedish superstore – yay or nay?

I think IKEA is a great option for fun findings in the right applications. For it’s price point it is what is is and that’s great. As fun as IKEA is, their furniture doesn’t have a long shelf life but we all know you get what you pay for right? If I was a college student and needed a quickie kitchen set up – IKEA. If I were an adult looking for a kitchen design that would still look good in 15 years – not IKEA. We all know this and we all know IKEA is super fun!!!!
I hear you Donna! I definitely think some people need to be a little more open-minded ‘design-wise’.
