One minute I’m all for them and the next I’m scoffing at the thought.
When done well – a white room will be one of the most beautiful, serene and perfect places you’ve ever seen.
Just when I start to think ‘hmm I could do this’, practicality taps me on my shoulder and says ‘yeh right! Look at your carpet!’ My cream carpet is a testament to real life, not life found on the pages of an interiors magazine. Foundation getting away from me, nail varnish tipped over, too-hot tea almost dropped – they’ve all introduced themselves to my carpet and left their mark.
Living in a white space would probably send me to a hospital with white padded rooms and a pretty white jacket with shiny buckles at the back. I’d be too nervous to do anything, carry anything or let anyone in, because let’s face it – off white, stained white or grubby white is not a good look.
I think I’ll stick to gazing dreamily at photos of pristine white rooms instead.
Could you live in an all white space?
