This weekend I finally had a spare few hours to do something fun.
What does fun look like to me? Furniture revamp! Yes I know how to party.
My revamp subject – a terribly tired set of drawers that I’ve disliked for a loooong time.
My apologies if I about to offend anyone, but I can’t stand pine. Cannot stand the stuff – especially the really orangey 70’s Swedish sauna looking pine, bleurgh. I think it stems from the built-in, slatted door, pine horror of a floor to ceiling wardrobe (with attached desk no less) I had in my bedroom growing up. It took up a third of the already small room and I hated it every day.
Yes – a question from the back… “Why do I have said drawers if I hate pine?” Well I didn’t actually buy them, they’re one of those things that seem just to have always been in the house. Brought in by the furniture ninja, moved from room to room with no real purpose and being despised by me the whole time. But a change finally came…
I got a tin of paint (Pure Chalk Paint from Annie Sloan), my brushes and some new shiny handles for the drawer fronts.
As I was using Chalk paint I didn’t have to sand or prime anything (fabulous), just gave the unit and drawers a wipe to get rid of the dust and I was good to go.
Et voila! One very simple makeover.
I chose this colour because the unit now lives in a dark and narrow hallway which is in serious need of brightening up.
I would have loved to use a ‘colourful colour’ to really change it up, but this works best for the space.
So that’s it! It took me a little under two hours to paint the lot, including the drying time I gave it between the two coats – easy peasy. No more pine monstrosity to upset me in the hallway. Rejoice!
Do you like?
This is *not* a sponsored post/review – I bought the paint myself and used it cos I likes it.

Love this! Can it be done on old maple Ikea drawers? I’m so bored of looking at them.
I don’t see why not! You might have to prep them a little differently but let’s talk.
Do it!!
Love, love, love… currently looking round the house for things to revamp!
Thank you – do it, it’s fun!
